More than 150 people wanted in the fight against terrorism were detected, detained and extradited by the efforts of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the second half of 2017 and in the first half of 2018, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, Director of the Anti-Terrorism Center Asylbek Kozhobekov told at the 33rd meeting of the Council of the Regional Antiterrorism Structure of the SCO. He said that within the framework of the SCO cooperation, special attention is paid to the threats and challenges coming from those who leave for regions with heightened terrorist activity, as well as returning to the territory of the SCO states. “Accepted decisions on the problems allowed the competent authorities to achieve concrete results. In particular, in recent years a large number of terrorist attacks have been prevented in the SCO space, and serious damage has been inflicted on terrorist groups. The joint efforts of the competent authorities of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Russia in the second half of 2017 and in the first half of 2018 more than 150 people who were wanted in the fight against terrorism were detected, detained and extradited,” he said. In addition, Kozhobekov said that given the urgency of threats of the use of the Internet for terrorist and extremist purposes, the agreements adopted by the Council of the SCO RATS made it possible to take timely measures to stop the subversive terrorist activities in the SCO area. “The main activity of the SCO RATS is aimed at further improving the coordination of the SCO competent bodies, effectively implementing the decision of the SCO Heads of State Council, the program of cooperation in the struggle and the development strategy to 225 years,” the Director of the Kyrgyz SCNS ATC added.
