Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. A literary evening dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Chyngyz Aitmatov was held at the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported. The event was attended by representatives of ministries and institutions of Belarus, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Minsk, representatives of the Belarus-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Society, the creative community and intellectuals, cultural figures and the media, as well as students of Belarus’s higher education institutions. During the event, First Deputy Minister of Culture of Belarus Natalia Krachevskaya delivered a congratulatory speech, noting the work of Kyrgyz and Soviet writer Aitmatova. Moreover, Chairman of the Belarus-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Society Nikolay Cherginets told about the writer's work and shared stories from the life of the writer. In turn, Turkish Ambassador to Belarus Kezban Darama, as well as students from universities in Belarus, in their speeches, quoted excerpts from the works of Aitmatov, accompanied by clips from the movies of these works. In his speech, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Kubanychbek Omuraliev noted that Aitmatov, as an artist, thinker and outstanding literary figure, is one of the greatest writers of our time, who introduced completely new reflections and ideas to literature, substantiated the highest spiritual values as the basis of human essence, identified them as the main and determining in personality. Guests were presented a clip from a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of the writer, a photo exhibition entitled «Aitmatov - Diplomat.» Read more
