The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan will strengthen relations with the border agencies of neighboring states, Chairman of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan Ularbek Sharsheev told during the 80th jubilee meeting of the Council of Commanders of the CIS Border Troops, which was held in Tokmok. He said that, earlier agreements were reached on the non-use of weapons between the border guards of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He noted that due to the increasing incidents at state borders with the use of weapons against the civilian population by border guards, the leaders of the border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan reached an agreement in May of this year on non-use of weapons against the civilian population if there is no threat to life the border guard himself. Sharsheyev said that, similar agreements have been reached between the border guards of Tajikistan. “After the incidents between the border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the behaviors of the border guards of both countries was revised. Following the negotiations, agreements were reached on the non-use of weapons and avoiding clashes entailing negative consequences,” the head of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic said. In conclusion, Sharsheyev stressed that the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan will continue to strengthen and improve relations between the border services of neighboring states. Read more
