The real GDP in January-August 2018 declined by 0.3%, excluding Kumtor data, the economy grew by 2.1%, Chairman of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov told at a press conference at the Kabar News Agency. He said that the economic activity in Kyrgyzstan is maintained by the restoration of aggregate demand amid growing inflow of remittances into the country and an increase in real wages. A positive contribution to the growth of the economy was provided by the agriculture, construction, trade, and transport sector. "In the monetary sector, positive trends persist. The banking sector has sufficient liquidity in the national currency. Against this background, the NBKR carries out operations to sterilize excess liquidity. In the money market, short-term local currency rates continue to fluctuate within the percentage corridor established by the National Bank. The interbank credit market shows an increase in the activity of participants for the second consecutive month. There is an increase in lending to the economy and an increase in the deposit base of commercial banks”, Abdygulov said. Read more
