Bishkek, Feb. 23, 2018 / Kabar /. Economic growth in 2017 exceeded expectations. I would like to especially note the leading position of the republic in terms of the growth rate among the countries of the EEU. Positive growth rates remain in all sectors of the economy, Prime Minister Sapar Isakov said during a government meeting. He noted that despite the positive results of 2017, today there are big challenges for further improving the living standards of the population, creating new industries and jobs, improving the investment climate and deepening integration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. «The main goal of the government's policy for 2018 will be to preserve macroeconomic stability by maintaining positive dynamics of economic growth and increasing the competitiveness of the national economy. The priority task of the government will be the effective implementation of the Forty Steps to a NewEra program for 2018-2023, which consists of three main areas - ensuring the economic well-being of the population, social welfare, safe and supportive environment, and promoting high-tech projects for digital transformation and building an open and transparent state within the framework of the Program,» Isakov said. The Prime Minister noted that the government will focus on measures to develop industry, agro-industrial complex, cooperation and sustainable tourism. "Measures will be taken to reduce administrative barriers for small and medium-sized businesses, improve the quality of the economic infrastructure and provide access to cheap and long-term financial resources. The Government will pay great attention to attracting investments and improving the country's position in Doing Business,” Isakov said. Taking into account the current situation in the energy system and the existing problems in the sector, the Head of Government noted the need to take effective measures to eliminate the risk of emergencies.
