SINGAPORE - Thirty-one years after Rahayu Mazlan received payouts from the Central Provident Fund (CPF) following the death of her mother, the outstanding balance - under $2 - finally found its way to her. The 51-year-old housewife had received a letter dated Oct 4 from the CPF Board stating that as part of its “regular reviews”, it had found some leftover savings in her late mother’s account since the last withdrawal in 1987. She has until Nov 5 to claim it. She had already obtained some money from CPF upon her mother's death in 1987.

SINGAPORE - A 29-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (Oct 17) after a woman accused him of attempting to take upskirt videos and photos. In a statement, the police said that it was alerted to a case of public nuisance at 1.46pm at Block 155 Simei Road. The victim, Facebook user Chen Wei Li, said in a Facebook post that she had been walking home when she heard a noise. SINGAPORE - The number of millionaires in Singapore grew 11.2 per cent in the 12 months to mid-2018 to 183,737 as wealth per adult rose 5.3 per cent to over US$283,000, the ninth highest in the world. This is according to Credit Suisse Research Institute's 2018 Global Wealth Report released on Thursday (Oct 18), which found that household wealth in Singapore grew strongly at 7.4 per cent to around US$1.3 trillion.
