SINGAPORE - Prices for Mao Shan Wang durians are falling, as vendors in Singapore see a slump in customer numbers. Mao Shan Wang durians - also known as Musang King - usually go for more than $20 per kg, but are now being sold for $16 to $20 per kg, according to four vendors The Straits Times spoke to. One vendor that Lianhe Wanbao spoke to, King Fruits Durian, even slashed prices to $10 a durian on Monday (Nov 12).

SBS Transit to offer free Wi-Fi on buses plying Bukit Merah area from February

SINGAPORE - Buses plying the Bukit Merah area will have free Wi-Fi from February 2019, transport operator SBS Transit announced on Wednesday (Nov 14). Some 300 buses which serve the 18 routes that are part of the Bukit Merah Bus Package run by SBS Transit will have the free service. This will be the first major roll-out of free Wi-Fi, as the service had previously been available on selected bus services or over a limited period. By 2020, free Wi-Fi will be available at all train stations and bus interchanges.

SINGAPORE - A former Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) lieutenant-colonel has been convicted of drink driving for the second time in 10 years. S. Vengadeshwaran, who has served as an honorary aide-de-camp (ADC) to former presidents S R Nathan and Tony Tan Keng Yam, drank three pints of beer before getting behind the wheel in February last year. He was later stopped for a spot check at a road block and 56 microgrammes of alcohol were found in every 100 millilitres of his breath. The prescribed limit is 35 microgrammes.
