In her response, she called the speech's policy directions a sound basis: getting the gold sector in order, controlling the state debt, building up tourism and giving Surinamese companies a bigger share of the oil industry. What society actually needs, she argued, are concrete implementation plans with real financial backing and results that can be measured. On gold mining specifically, she considers tighter regulation unavoidable.
