Coverage of the United Nations General Assembly in New York is running live, with two speeches shaping the day's agenda. Both Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas are lined up to address the hall. Their appearances are expected to concentrate attention on Israel's actions in Gaza. The Israeli prime minister's trip to the city has already provoked anger among critics of his government. Demonstrations have been called in New York to protest his presence at the assembly. The rallies are aimed at the Israeli leader rather than at the gathering itself. With both men due on the same stage, the coming addresses promise two starkly different accounts of the war.
