First VP Mehriban Aliyeva shares post on September 27 - Remembrance Day (PHOTO)
First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has shared a social media post dedicated to 27 September, observed in the country as Remembrance Day. The post, illustrated with photographs, honours the memory of those who gave their lives in the 2020 Karabakh war. Remembrance Day has been marked on this date each year since it was established after the fighting ended. The conflict in autumn 2020 lasted 44 days and concluded with a trilateral statement signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia. Thousands of Azerbaijani soldiers lost their lives over those weeks. Their memory has since become a central part of the country's public life, with officials and citizens posting tributes on the date. Aliyeva's message fits that annual pattern of commemoration across the leadership. The day once again turned attention to the families of the fallen and the losses they carry.
