An attack at the basic school in Staškov has left the Slovak village in mourning. A 61-year-old teacher died in the incident on Tuesday, and two more people suffered injuries. The village mayor spoke about the tragedy and said grief has touched everyone in the community. A memorial place has taken shape next to the school, where residents can stop and pay their respects. The pain, he said, has reached every corner of the village. Local authorities are providing assistance both to the school and to the families affected. Teachers and pupils are being given room to grieve while the school works out how classes resume in the days ahead. For a community of this size, the loss of one of its teachers has left an absence that will not fade quickly.
