A stone cube dug up during excavations in Osmaneli turned out to be about 1,800 years old, and its purpose is now solved. Municipal employee Ilayda Özkök explained that the find worked as a refrigerator in its day, keeping food cool long before electricity. The discovery offers a small, concrete picture of how people preserved perishables almost two millennia ago.
