New home lending in Portugal has fallen at its steepest rate in a year and a half at the start of the Bank of Portugal's credit brake. March had seen new housing loans top 3 billion euros in a single month, but the total has swung up and down since then. The first month under the central bank's new rules coincided with the drop in lending.
