Officers from Kyrgyzstan's State Tax Service have stopped an attempt to illegally import jewellery into Bishkek. The pieces, made from precious metals, were being brought in without the accompanying documents the law requires. Their total value was put at 9.6 million soms, roughly the equivalent of 100,000 dollars. Kyrgyz rules oblige importers of precious metal goods to declare them and present proper certificates at the border. Without that paperwork the shipment could not legally enter the country. The service did not name the people behind the attempt or say where the jewellery had come from. The tax authority announced the interception itself but gave no further details about any follow-up.

Сотрудники Государственной налоговой службы КР пресекли попытку ввоза ювелирных изделий из драгоценных металлов без соответствующих сопроводительных документов.
