Elizabeth Holmes became a prominent figure in Silicon Valley during the early 2010s as the leader of the startup Theranos. She promoted the idea that a single drop of blood could replace traditional blood tests. This technology did not actually work. In 2022, she was sentenced to prison for extensive fraud.
