Prosecutors in Astana report they have uncovered an organized criminal group operating inside the city's public service system. According to Kazakh media citing the prosecutor's office, members of the group are suspected of handing out driver's licenses unlawfully. At least 74 people are believed to have received their documents without going through the proper procedures. The suspects in question work at SpetsTsON, the special public service center where licenses are processed. The scheme apparently let applicants skip testing altogether, trading a legal requirement for a payment. NUR.KZ reports that prosecutors are treating the case as participation in an organized group. That classification can bring heavier charges than a single act of bribery would. Investigators now face the task of tracing who paid, who collected and who looked the other way.

В Астане выявили предполагаемую ОПГ, членов которой подозревают в незаконной выдаче водительских удостоверений, передает NUR.KZ со ссылкой на прокуратуру Астаны.
