Half a billion is being spent on cattle while domestic farms are closing. Imports of meat continue to rise as local production struggles. Fresh beef has primarily arrived from the Netherlands, Italy, and Poland. Frozen meat has been imported from Brazil, Austria, Poland, and Paraguay.
