Search teams found the body of John F. Kennedy Jr. 35 meters below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. The mission leader told The Post that the team was nearly ready to end the operation when the discovery was made. The plane disappeared on the night of July 16, 1999. Following the crash, the United States government launched one of the largest naval search operations in history.
