The Portuguese toy maker Maia & Borges, known for producing the classic “estrumpfes,” has entered liquidation after decades of operation. The company’s subsidiary Mb2 Manufature collapsed a year ago, leaving only five thousand euros recovered from a debt of two point eight million euros. The parent firm now faces roughly twelve million euros in liabilities and about three hundred workers without jobs. Its assets are described as minimal, offering little to satisfy creditors. The collapse marks the end of a fifty‑year history in the toy industry. Creditors and former employees are awaiting the court‑ordered distribution of the remaining resources.
