Police in Sokoto have arrested 20 people after a protest demanding the release of Islamic cleric Dahiru Mai Barewa turned violent. Demonstrators took to the streets to press for the detained cleric to be freed, and the situation deteriorated from there. Officers moved in with arrests, and the cleric remains in custody.
