More than 51,000 women in Borno State have adopted family planning, according to the GATE Foundation. The uptake followed a sensitisation project the group ran alongside the state government. Campaign workers went into communities to explain contraception and reproductive health options to women who had little access to such information. The foundation presented the figures as evidence that the outreach is changing attitudes in the state.
