Chile's government has watered down its vandalism registry bill, removing the loss of housing subsidies and the Universal Guaranteed Pension as penalties and scaling back the punishment involving free transport. The changes take into account part of a Constitutional Court ruling on the Protected Schools project, which found that stripping social benefits as a sanction was unconstitutional. Subsecretary Pavez said the amendments improve the proposal.
