More than 100 students in Bayelsa State have been taught how to respond when someone is hurt or falls seriously ill. The training covered first aid, CPR and other skills that can keep a person alive before an ambulance or doctor arrives. Organisers want the students to act as first responders in their schools and neighbourhoods. The thinking is simple: the minutes right after an accident often decide whether a victim survives.
