Transit Cable Deal Links Gulf to Europe via Iraq
Iraq has signed a transit cable agreement to carry telecommunications capacity from the Gulf to Europe through its territory. The deal was concluded between the General Company for Telecommunications and Informatics and Qatar's Ooredoo Group, the parent company of Asiacell. It was signed under the oversight of Communications Minister Mustafa Jabbar Sanad. The agreement allows data traffic to transit Iraq on its way between the two regions.
