Lagos State has stepped up security at the Badagry border in response to a rise in child theft and trafficking. Secretary to the State Government Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin confirmed that the government is boosting the security presence at the crossing. The aim is to cut off a route that traffickers could use to move stolen children out of the state through the land border. The tighter watch is meant to make smuggling children out far harder while investigations into the reported cases continue.
