Beer parlour operators in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State have taken their grievances to the streets, staging a protest in Sengere on Thursday. The traders accused the Divisional Police Officer, SP Aliyu Adamu, of extortion and intimidation, and said officers under his command have joined in the pressure. They are now calling on the state Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, to order a full investigation into the division's conduct. The operators say the harassment has made it hard to keep their businesses running.
