Thorsten Frei, who leads the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, says a drastic clause in Germany's constitution could be used against a state government run by the AfD. The tool, known as Bundeszwang, would come into play if such a government ignored federal law. Frei framed it strictly as a last resort. The measure has never been applied in the history of the Federal Republic.
