Sporting are waiting to see if Quaresma gets a call to the national team. People within the club's football structure believe the defender will be among the players Jorge Jesus names for the squad. His recent performances for the club are the basis for that expectation. If the call comes, it would be a step up for a player who has been putting in steady work in defense. No squad list exists yet, so inside the club the belief is cautious rather than loud. Sporting have seen several of their players earn national recognition when their form peaks, and this would follow the same pattern. The final say rests with the coach when the list is published.
