49 people under probe for illegal activities following multi-agency enforcement operation in Geylang

Forty-nine individuals are under investigation after an enforcement operation conducted by multiple agencies in the vicinity of Geylang, the police said on Friday (Sept 11).Among them, 36 are men and 13 are women, with ages ranging from 16 to 70.The operation, conducted between Aug 24 and Sept 10, was led by the Bedok Police Division and saw participation from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore Customs, Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).These were part of efforts to clamp down on illegal activities in Geylang, the police said.From Aug 27 to 29, the Bedok Police Division worked with HSA, ICA and CNB to conduct a joint enforcement against the sale of illegal health products and drug-related activities in the Geylang area.The operation yielded cough syrup, sexual enhancement products, vaporisers and etomidate pods, estimated to be worth around $54,000 in total.
