His complaint is aimed at artificial intelligence, which he says dragged the punctuation mark into disrepute. With chatbots leaning on the dash so heavily, readers have started treating it as a telltale sign of machine writing. Millesi wants none of that guilt by association and argues the mark should not be allowed to die out.
