The Union of Poles in Belarus sees the Day of National Unity as a holiday that belongs to everyone, whatever their background. Its chairman, Mecheslav Lysy, argued as much at a round table held in the House of Press under the banner 'Multinational Belarus: independence preserved through unity.' Though it is the newest of the country's state holidays, he said, it manages to unite all nationalities into one people.
