Ukraine has gone on the offensive in the Donetsk region. Units of its Third Army reported advances across an area of 75 square kilometres. The announcement was short on specifics, naming no villages and giving no casualty figures. Even so, any claimed gain of ground there stands out after months of slow, grinding fighting along that stretch of the front.
