Speeding remains leading cause of fatal road crashes
Speeding remains the biggest killer on Jamaica's roads, blamed for 24 per cent of deaths recorded between April and June. The figures come from the Island Traffic Authority's 2026 year-to-date report. Dontae Matthews, the authority's manager of corporate communications and public relations, urged all road users to stay alert on their daily commutes. He said the ITA backs targeted enforcement and will keep running public education campaigns to promote safer driving.
