Diner raises concerns after finding mud-like substance on crab: 'They gave us different excuses'

A diner has raised concerns after allegedly finding a dark, mud-like substance around the joints of crab claws in a bowl of crab rice vermicelli at a restaurant.The diner claimed that staff at Chicken Pie Kitchen & Don Signature Crab initially described the substance as dirt before later identifying it as seafood paste used in the soup base, according to an anonymous post in the Complaint Singapore Facebook (FB) group on Sunday (Sept 13).According to the same post, the restaurant said its chef had inspected the crab and determined that the residue was homemade seafood sauce that had accumulated around the crab shells and joints during cooking.'They gave us different excuses'The restaurant then offered a "full 1-to-1 replacement", according to the post.After about 20 minutes, the diner said a manager showed them seafood paste used in the soup and claimed it was the substance found on the crab, which the diner disputed because the colours did not match.
