Anant Nag, a fixture of Kannada cinema for more than fifty years, has received the Dadasaheb Phalke honour. His career stretches from Ankur, his early turn in Shyam Benegal's film, to the much-loved television adaptation of Malgudi Days. Along the way he built one of Indian cinema's most dependable bodies of work, moving between mainstream and art house projects without much fuss.
