Stanislav Párnický, the Slovak director, has died at 77. For years he was married to actress Zdena Studenková, now 72, until their divorce in 1995. A few years later he fell for Sahraa Karimi, an Afghan filmmaker nearly three decades younger who is now 44. Karimi was the woman who took Studenková's place at his side.
