Temporary Government relief for 3 public waste collection companies hit by high fuel prices
The National Environment Agency (NEA) will provide a targeted and time-bound relief to alleviate the cost impact of higher diesel costs faced by three public waste collection companies in Singapore.The three NEA-licensed public waste collectors (PWCs) are: ALBA W&H Smart City, Cora Environment and 800 Super Waste Management.In a LinkedIn post on Friday (Sept 18), Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Janil Puthucheary said the Government had received feedback earlier this year from the waste management sector regarding higher operating costs amid geopolitical uncertainties.The US-led war with Iran, ongoing for over six months now, resulted in global oil prices crossing the US$100 per barrel mark between April and May. That, in turn, led to soaring fuel prices around the world.
