When Enemies Become Allies: Ethiopia's Fragile Coalition Against Abiy

Ethiopia's political map has just been redrawn by an alliance that would have seemed unthinkable four years ago. On Sunday, seven armed and political groups, among them the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Amhara Fano National Movement, announced the formation of the Ethiopian Peoples' Forces Alliance for Survival, a coalition built explicitly to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government.
