Comparing grocery prices gets easier as unit pricing pilot expands to RedMart, Don Don Donki and online stores

A pilot aimed at helping consumers compare product prices more easily across brands and package sizes will be expanded to include more operators and a wider range of commonly purchased grocery items.Announcing this in a joint press release on Monday (Sept 28), the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS) and Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) said the expansion of the unit pricing pilot, which will include online stores for the first time, builds on the positive consumer response to the programme's first phase.It ran from September to December last year, and involved supermarket chains — NTUC FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Prime Supermarket, Cold Storage and Giant — displaying unit prices for selected grocery categories at participating outlets.CCS and CASE said feedback from consumers was encouraging, with shoppers finding unit pricing helpful for comparing prices across different brands and package sizes.
