About 20 million children face online sexual abuse every year, according to UNICEF. The UN children's agency reports that more than one in five children aged 12 to 17 were targeted on digital platforms. That points to a vast number of minors encountering abuse through the apps and sites they use daily. Children in this age group are among the heaviest users of social media and messaging services.
