Illegal mining leaves Johannesburg facing R285m-plus infrastructure repair bill

Johannesburg estimates that repairing five roads damaged by illegal mining could cost R262m, while sinkholes, unstable ground and underground excavations threaten bridges, electricity and water infrastructure.
