JB-Singapore RTS Link targets February 2027 launch
SINGAPORE, JOHOR BAHRU — The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is expected to begin passenger service in February 2027.RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO), the joint venture company operating the cross-border rail link, said on Friday (Oct 2) that all system tests and trial runs are expected to be completed by Dec 31, 2026."Our goal is to provide a safe and reliable service on the RTS link," RTS announced in a press release on Friday (Oct 2). The announcement comes as the RTS Link enters its final testing and commissioning phase, which is required before the system can be declared operational.The project had previously been targeted to begin passenger service in early 2027.The cross-border system — first announced in 2010 — is a 4km shuttle service that connects Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru (JB) to Woodlands North in Singapore. RTSO is a joint venture between Singapore's SMRT Corporation and Malaysia's state-owned transport operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.
