Akufo-Addo giving Bawumia space to assert himself as NPP leader – Gabby Otchere-Darko

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, says former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is giving the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the space to establish himself as the leader of the party. According to him, there is no doubt that Dr Bawumia now occupies the NPP’s leadership position and commands the support of the party. “I think Bawumia should be given the space to assert himself as the leader of the party. And I think that’s what Akufo-Addo is doing,” Mr Otchere-Darko said. His comments come amid discussions about the relationship between the former president and Dr Bawumia, who served as his Vice President from 2017 to 2025.
