Russia launched 142 drones at Ukraine during the night of October 8. Ukrainian air defense units shot down or suppressed 126 of the unmanned aircraft, according to figures released after the attack. Some drones still got through, and strikes were recorded at seven locations across the country. Mass drone barrages have become a near-nightly routine of the war, stretching radars and jamming systems over huge swathes of territory. Electronic warfare crews now do much of the suppression work alongside gunners and missile teams. Ukraine keeps pressing its Western partners for more interceptors to cope with the sheer volume of incoming drones. Early reports gave no word on casualties or the extent of damage at the struck sites.
