A human skeleton has surfaced in Kalambaka, and police there have sounded the alarm over the find. Investigators are working on whether the remains belong to a man who has been missing since 2018. A rope was reportedly found at the same spot, and experts are examining it as part of the effort to establish exactly how the person died. Identifying remains after so many years generally falls to DNA testing against samples from the missing man's relatives. The terrain around Kalambaka, in the shadow of the Meteora rock formations, is rough country well known to hikers and climbers. Until the analysis comes back, the case stays open as an investigation into an unexplained death.
