Haze update Oct 8: Air quality unhealthy in 4 regions; 24-hour PSI forecast high-moderate to mid-unhealthy range
Singapore's air quality remained in the unhealthy range throughout Thursday (Oct 8) afternoon, with the one-hour PM2.5 hitting the mid-elevated range in central, southern and western Singapore.At 7pm, 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) ranged from 98 in the northern region to 139 in western Singapore.The next highest readings were recorded in the central (137) and eastern (108) regions, while northern Singapore (100) returned to the moderate range at 7pm.Meanwhile, one-hour PM2.5 remains is in the elevated band in central (113), southern (80), western (77) and eastern (70) Singapore, with only the northern region (44) in the normal band.Concentration readings between 56 to 150µg/m3 fall within the elevated band, while readings between 151 and 250 are in the high-band — briefly recorded in western Singapore at 4pm on Wednesday.In its daily haze situation update on Thursday evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said it expects the country's 24-hour PSI to be in the high-moderate to mid-unhealthy range.
