Pri Krompachoch horí les: Pozor, plamene sa šíria smerom k obciam
A forest fire broke out on Thursday near Krompachy, a town in eastern Slovakia. The flames burned through about 1.7 hectares of woodland on the hill called Dubie, in the Spišská Nová Ves district. Reports warned that the fire was spreading toward nearby settlements, and residents in the path were told to watch for updates. Fire brigades moved onto the slopes, with smoke visible from the surrounding roads. Crews worked into the evening to cut the spread before stronger wind could push it further toward the villages. The municipality asked walkers and drivers to stay away from the forest tracks above the town. Fires of this size are usually contained within a day when crews reach them in time, although dry spells in the region keep the risk up.
