Turkey's religious authority has set 'Gaza, the Test of Humanity' as the theme of the Friday sermon dated October 9. The full text went online Thursday through the Directorate of Religious Affairs website, dinhizmetleri.diyanet.gov.tr. Congregations across the country will hear the same prepared message. In it, the directorate notes that voices rising around the world for the killing to stop reflect consciences that have not gone numb. It also ties those appeals to the protection of civilians and to aid actually reaching people in need. Diyanet assigns a single sermon topic nationwide for every Friday prayer. The PDF text is available for download at the same address. The sermon treats the war in Gaza as a moral test for the world rather than a distant conflict.
