Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff has ordered the Defence Space Administration to widen its coverage. The directive extends space-based intelligence support to military operations in the North-West and the North-Central. Both zones have struggled for years with armed banditry and mass kidnappings. Satellite imagery and orbital surveillance can give commanders a view that ground patrols cannot match. Officials hope the added coverage will speed up target identification and improve coordination among units spread across vast terrain. The order also shows the military's growing interest in space technology as a tool of modern warfare. No timeline for the rollout has been made public.
