PhilSA confirms China’s Long March 12 rocket launch
China lifted off a Long March 12 rocket in the early hours of Saturday, and Philippine authorities have confirmed the launch. The Philippine Space Agency said the liftoff happened at 3:28 a.m. on October 10. The rocket left the ground at the Hainan International Commercial Launch Center in Wenchang, in China's island province of Hainan. Along with the confirmation, PhilSA issued a public warning about possible rocket debris. The agency cautioned that falling pieces of the rocket could be a hazard in the waters off Palawan. Such notices are standard whenever debris from a launch is expected to drop near Philippine territory. Vessels passing through those waters are the main concern while the debris risk remains.
